Pinto Division - Spring 2018 |
Type of play: |
Machine Pitch |
(click for playing rules) |
Description: |
A pitching machine is used to get the players familiar with hitting a pitched ball. Like T-ball the emphasis is on learning the game and the games should only be mildly competitive. To limit runaway scores a team which is ahead is only allowed to score six runs each inning. A team is allowed ten players and one coach on defense. Play stops when an infielder holds up the ball. On offense all players are put in the batting order and are allowed five swings at the ball. Catching equipment is used but primarily to get players used to it. As much as possible teams are formed by neighborhood or by coach request. Each player is awarded a trophy at the end of the season. |
